The Equatorial Guinea Shippers’ Council (CCGE) participated in the 3rd edition of the training programme on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), held in Cairo, the Arab Republic of Egypt, on 16, 17 and 18 June 2026.
The CCGE delegation comprised Florencio Bokamba, Head of the Economic and Financial Department in Malabo, and Ernesto Matías Nde, Accounting Technician at the Bata office. They represented the institution at this important training activity aimed at strengthening knowledge of African trade and trade finance.
The participation, authorised by the CCGE Directorate-General, was primarily intended to strengthen the technical capacities of the Economic and Financial Department and gather relevant information on trade finance instruments, risk mitigation and opportunities associated with the development of trade corridors within the AfCFTA framework.
**Specialised Training in African Trade**
The programme brought together representatives and specialists from Afreximbank, the American University in Cairo, the Afreximbank Academy (AFRACAD), and experts in trade policy and trade intelligence related to the African Continental Free Trade Area.
Among the speakers and representatives were Dr Sabry Ghaly, representative of Afreximbank; Ms Marwa Negm, contact person at the American University in Cairo; Dr Ahmed Maghawry, involved in AfCFTA-related policy matters; and Trade Intelligence Solutions specialists Wilfried Deudjui-Mbouwe and Nancy Victor.
During the training days, the CCGE representatives attended sessions lasting approximately eight hours per day, meetings with the organising authorities, and various activities designed to promote the exchange of experiences and knowledge among professionals from different African countries.
**Building New Capabilities for the CCGE**
One of the main outcomes of this participation was the strengthening of knowledge relating to trade finance in Africa and the functioning of the AfCFTA.
The training provided an opportunity to explore financial instruments used in international trade, risk mitigation mechanisms, African trade integration, and the opportunities offered by trade corridors to facilitate exchanges between the continent’s various markets.
The CCGE technicians also had the opportunity to establish contacts with banking professionals, financial specialists and trade experts from several African countries, creating new opportunities for cooperation and information exchange.
As part of the training outcomes, the CCGE representatives also joined a digital collaboration platform with more than 60 participants from different countries. The platform is intended to sustain knowledge-sharing activities and facilitate participation in future AfCFTA-related initiatives.
**Commitment to Training and African Trade Integration**
The Equatorial Guinea Shippers’ Council’s participation in this programme reaffirms the institution’s commitment to the continuous training of its staff and to strengthening its technical capacities to address the emerging challenges of continental trade.
Initiatives of this kind also help bring the CCGE closer to key African organisations and institutions involved in trade, finance and economic integration, strengthening its ability to support the development of the transport sector and the shippers of Equatorial Guinea.
